Below is a summary of courses offered by The Bright School of English. We offer a variety of professional courses to suit all levels, and please contact the school if you require more information.
General English
We offer a progressive course in General English designed to suit students of all levels, from elementary to advanced.
Our experienced teachers use the latest course books and techniques to make your learning experience both rewarding and enjoyable. At each level we aim to improve all aspects of your English, including grammar, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening and importantly to build confidence.
At the end of the course, students will be given an end of course certificate. Each level typically takes 12 weeks, but if a student improves quickly a higher level can be achieved in a shorter time period. English courses are available from 15 hours to 30 hours per week. Students can join the course every Monday all year around (except school closed dates, see the student guide section). There is no minimum stay period. The Bright School has a maximum class size of 16, and an average class size of 9.
Cambridge Courses - FCE
The Bright School offers First Certificate of English preparation courses. The FCE is an internationally recognised qualification and is aimed around upper intermediate students. The FCE course is run by Cambridge University and Exams are booked through the school.
The FCE certificate is also recognised by educational institutions and employers throughout the world. These courses run throughout the year, and a timetable of available exams is always available from the school office.

The cost of the FCE exam is £240. The course must be booked in advance and within a certain date. Please ask the school for these dates. No refunds are offered unless cancelled before 4 weeks. Cambridge English will send an online link with code to show your result, and this is usually 2 to 4 weeks after the exam. Certificates may get sent to the school, and please contact the school for more information.
Business English
For students at intermediate level and above, we offer a further 5 hours per week, on top of the general English course in which to study Business English. This includes the teaching of the vocabulary and grammar required for professional business communication.
English with Tourism
We offer an industry dedicated English with Tourism course. This course is perfect for students working or who want to start their careers in the Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality sector.
English is the world language for Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure, and no matter where in the world you find employment, you will encounter English-speaking customers. Especially for hotel staff and all types of Hospitality and Leisure jobs. Speaking in clear English is important because the way you communicate makes a big difference to how comfortable customers feel.
Customers in any Hospitality and Leisure setting will often ask for directions related to the facilities provided. They may want to request a particular service, or raise a complaint, or ask for local travel arrangements, and English will always the preferred language.
Even if you are already employed in a Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure job, but feel you lack fluency in English, consider taking our English with Tourism classes. When you learn English you will find yourself more confident in communicating with customers as and this confidence will soon ensure you career advancement.
This course is for people working or planning to work in the tourism, hospitality and travel industries. The core language skills are developed through a wide range of work-related tasks. Particular emphasis is placed on realistic and integrated communication tasks which give students the opportunity to build confidence and improve fluency.
The grammatical structures and vocabulary of a range of topics are covered, including: hotels, travel arrangements, customer service, and many more!
Practice by participating in roleplays, doing case studies and projects to help work towards real language progress in this field.
This class is open for level form Elementary A1 to Intermediate B1. This course is offered on request only.
University Access Course - IELTS Preparation
For students at upper-intermediate level and above, we offer a further 5 hours per week, on top of the general English course, in which to study IELTS exam preparation. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS), is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication.
IELTS is usually taken by students who want to study at University, where the course is conducted in English. IELTS is accepted by Universities throughout the world.
The Career English course is suited to those who may want to work in a professional English speaking environment. With globalisation, English is used in most companies that have an international outlook. This course will help students gain a huge advantage, some examples include, customer service, presenting and professional document creation. We offer a further 5 hours per week, on top of the general English course, so students can gain that advantage in a competitive global world. This course is offered on request only.
Individual Lessons or One to One Lessons
The Bright School offers the opportunity of Individual or One to One Lessons. These lessons can be tailored for the individual student, maximising your learning experience. With individual lessons the Bright School will plan and identify areas where improvements can be made. The lessons are usually 1 to 2 hours long, and multiple lessons can be booked each week. These lessons are available on request.
Oil and Gas (Energy) English
The Bright School offers a specialist Oil and Gas English course, using General English methodology, but with vocabulary and specialist course material from the Energy industry. The Bright School is able to undertake this course anywhere in the world. The school has a set syllabus for the Oil and Gas course, but also creates individual courses subject to the company and individual needs. This course is offered on request only.
Aviation English
The Bright School offers a tailored Aviation course. This course is aimed at all personnel within the aviation industry, with tailored courses for Air Traffic Controllers and Pilots. English is the standard international language in Aviation, and the Bright School can assist with the ICAO’s Aviation English Language Test Service (AELTS) exam. This course is offered on request only.
